Jane Eyre trembling at screams from the attic, Poe’s Tell Tale Heart thumping beneath the floorboards, Dracula’s non-reflection in Jonathan Harker’s shaving mirror – these were my favorite adolescent bedtime reads. But I was no book worm by a long shot. The Twilight Zone and The Creature Double Feature on WKGB out of Boston were my favorite weekly entertainments.
Suspense was the name of the game, and that’s what my ghost Reginald brings to the page. The Séance is loosely based in personal experience, and I assure you that Reginald terrified me just as much as Dracula. If he keeps you awake at night, too, I will be honored.
